In 2020, NETFLIX contacted me to design a COLLECTIBLE STATUE of their hit streaming show, THE WITCHER. This was a FUN & CHALLENGING PROJECT because I had infuse my ART STYLE of "STREET"/ "URBAN" Art into the world of FANTASY.
The only direction for the project was to come up with a piece that illustrated GERALT's FIRST ENCOUNTER with the MONSTER, the KIKIMORA from SEASON 1, EPISODE 1.
I wanted to really show off GERALT's PERSONALTY, while giving him some ATTITUDE and having some sense of MOTION to the piece. All while giving the statue a STYLIZED LIKENESS of HENRY CAVILL & throwing in some "EASTER EGGS" from the series into the statue.
These were my initial CONCEPT SKETCHES of the for the statue.
TWO were picked to further explore. So, I tightened up the LINE WORK, added some DETAILS & FLAT COLORS to help with the VISUALIZATION of the CONCEPT.
The Pose with GERALT standing on the severed head of the KIKIMORA was chosen as the BEST CONCEPT and I moved forward on finalizing the ILLUSTRATION for sculpt.
This was the FINAL ILLUSTRATION to be used as a REFERENCE for the actual SCULPT of the STATUE. The ORIGINAL IDEA for the base, was to be a piece of the SWAMP in which the scene takes place.
Unfortunately, the ORIGINAL BASE design would make the statue too tall and pricey so we had to redesign it into something a bit more simple but made sense.
The NEW BASE DESIGN became a POOL OF BLOOD coming from the SEVERED HEAD of the KIKIMORA. That's METAL!
Once the NEW BASE was added, my WITCHER STATUE was COMPLETE. This is how the final product came out.
